We enjoyed our stay at the Cycle Inn, as our hostess Joanne was both welcoming
and charming. Not only did she prepare lovely breakfasts, but provided
information about the local area. We found both the house and location of it to
be very quiet and relaxing. The view of Glen Lake from the house was splendid.
Really enjoyed the in-floor heating in the bathroom on a cold & wet weekend!
Would certainly stay again should we find ourselves in the area.

I have no idea where these 4 and 5 star reviews are coming from. My husband and
I stayed here in July 2011 for one night. We were not told before arrival that
the place was undergoing major rehabilitation. It would normally not be a
problem to have work done during the day, but the water was off and there was no
working toilet available for hours after we arrived. I have stayed in many b&bs
and this one was clearly just some lady's messy house with papers, a weird doll
collection and other detritus strewn everywhere. The business is cash-only, and
she never indicated an unwillingness to take USD ahead of time, but she really
struggled to calculate the exchange rate and acted very unpleasant about it. The
power went off in the evening and all of the guests were huddled around the fuse
box trying to solve the problem while the owner had gone out and was not
available by phone. The room we stayed in had shower and toilet in the bedroom,
with no separate bathroom. Even for a married couple, it was a gross idea for
one person to try to sleep or watch TV while the other was trying to use the
toilet. A bathroom down the hall would have been a better idea. In the end, our
schedule was not compatible with the hour she intended to serve breakfast, so we
didn't get any (not that a set breakfast hour was advertised). The lake here is
pretty, but there is just no reason to pay someone hotel rates to stay in their
dirty home.

Joanne was an awesome hostess. She made our stay very comfortable. I would
recommend the Cycle Inn as a place to stay and I would not hesitate to go there
again.
Fabulous views and so very quiet!

My partner and I stayed at the Cycle Inn from the 1st July to the 5th July 2011.
The B&B is a good 30 min drive from the harbour at Victoria, a taxi one way from
the main bus terminal will cost around $45.00CAD. You can hire a car from
Enterprise for this same rate per day so we did that. The Cycle Inn is set at
the end of a Cul-de-Sac with the Galloping Goose Trail on one side and Glen Lake
on the other. It is very quiet and secluded.
We stayed in the Al Howie Room, named after the Scots born runner who ran from
one end of Canada to the Other, The room was not overly large but adequate. It
has shower at one side with WC separated by a low wall/partition. The room
overlooks the lake and one of the best moments of our stay was lying in King
sized bed in the morning watching Canadian Geese feed, framed by a spectacular
sunrise. the view from the room was always lovely. There are no coffee/tea
making facilities so we bought our own small kettle and used that instead.
Joanne did say that we could use the kitchen, but we were uncomfortable doing
this as it encroached onto her own living space. There is a balcony that
overlooks the lake with tables and chairs however again Joanne and family would
invariably be using this so we simply sat by the lakeside instead. The lake is
literally a few yards from the rear of the house. There is a pontoon with a
canoe and pedalo that is for the use of guests and we used this every day to
paddle on the lake after breakfast or in the evening.
There is also a hot tub set on the lakeside and it was really good sitting in
the hot water by the Lakeside with some cold beer watching the sun set.
Breakfast consisted of Granola, yoghurt , coffee and fruit juice with freshly
baked muffins that Joanne prepared every morning. After the fourth morning this
became rather repetitive and I could have murdered some bacon and eggs! This is
just a personal thing and the breakfast could not be faulted.
Joanne shares the B&B with Achilles the dog, we are dog lovers and thought he
was great, however we are aware that not everyone likes dogs. If your looking
for a really quiet, secluded B&B set in a gorgeous setting then the Cycle Inn is
for you.

It was great to come across a bed and breakfast that could accommodate people
with kids. One room, the family room , had a double bed, bunk beds and a single.
This is a great place to stay if you don't want to spend all of your time in the
busy downtown of Victoria. There is lots to do at the inn as it is on a lake and
you have access to a canoe and peddle boat. My teens loved swinging off the rope
and dropping into the lake. It is also accessible to Sooke and beaches up the
coast. It was very relaxing at the end of busy days and a great alternative to a
hotel...

Had a pleasant stay at this bed and breakfast and the hostess was very welcoming
and informative about the local area, in particular about the Galloping Goose
Regional Trail which runs by right outside the front door.
The view from the bedroom was beautiful at all times - morning, afternoon and
evening!
Would like to make a reminder to guests that the en-suite in the Al-Howie room
truly is en-suite!
It is great to have access to the paddle boat on the lake for free, however
bikes are at the additional cost of $20 per person per day. We had considered
using these on the galloping goose trail, however as we only had a short stay we
decided to head for Witty's Lagoon in the car instead. This was only a short
drive away and then we had about a 30 minute walk down to the beach.
Finally, we had a very delicious breakfast including freshly baked muffins. This
was served at the main dining table with the other guests and was arranged the
night before at a time mutually convenient!
We both slept soundly and comfortably.
Room Tip: Al Howie has beautiful view of lake but ensuite is in rather than
adjacent to the bedroom.

Enjoyed our stay at Cycle Inn Bed and Breakfast just outside Victoria. Joanne
made us both feel very welcome to share her lovely house overlooking a lake.
Parking directly outside the front door and a quiet neighborhood. Our room was
very comfortable and the Breakfast muffins were homemade and scrummy. We enjoyed
lots of intelligent conversation with our hostess who shows lots of interest in
what is going on around the world. The breakfast is casual including fruits from
the garden and those fantastic muffins freshly baked.
