Stayed in a studio suite for 5 nights at the Oswego Hotel Victoria ...spacious,
clean, centrally located near the water. It has ALL amenities. I'd stay again. I
found the best deal through

We had about a dozen people for a New Year's Eve reunion and a 2-bedroom suite
at the Oswego was perfect for the occasion. The kitchen was well stocked, the
bathrooms were elegant and the beds were comfortable. Staff were warm and
welcoming. The hotel comes across as classy.
I rated the Oswego Hotel Victoria as a 4 instead of a 5 because of a few minor
inconveniences. Two couples occupied the suite. We were assigned one parking
space. The other couple had to make do with street parking some distance away,
an unpleasant choice after a nice dinner out on a rainy night.
The second annoyance came at checkout when I had to sit and wait in the lobby
while someone went up to check the room before my damage deposit (a credit card
'hold') could be refunded. I get that it was New Year's Eve and some parties get
out of hand, but that's what the hospitality business is all about. Don't keep
me hostage for ten minutes while you make sure I left all the dishes and towels
intact. That diminishes the classy factor, even though you were so very polite
about it. Guests should bring their own water and wine to avoid the overpriced
offerings already in the room.

For many people location is everything but if you don't mind staying of the
beaten track but still want to be fairly close to everything then the Oswego
Hotel Victoria is a very good choice. The room had just about everything a
person could want for a comfortable stay but found it was lacking a safe to lock
valuables away for my wife's feeling of security. The exercise room was well
equipped and by far the best I have seen to date. The bed fell a little short on
the desirable side for a comfortable sleep but provided a pleasant one. The
kitchen exceeded our expectations but were disappointed to get a coffee packet
every other day rather then everyday. However we were surprised to find our
washed dishes put way for us when we returned in the evening, and thank you!!!.
The hotel does not have movies on demand and claims to have a movie channel
through their satellite service but we could not find anything that resembled a
movie channel and a T.V. would have been helpful . I guess the movies that were
shown on the Disney channel could make it a movie channel.
The Oswego Victoria is one I would recommend to anyone, especially people
travelling with pets.

I am staying at the Oswego from March 24 till April 1 st -- there is no other
choice for me. I am reading that the studio suite is small, but the hotel staff,
decor and responsiveness of the manager is a competitive advantage. Other hotels
dont rate, and the Oswego has a viral marketing campaign that is word of mouth
in Vancouver. Everyone tells me it is the best kept secret in Victoria. I can't
wait -- Murphy bed or not. Yay Oswego!

We visited Victoria for a few days in Spring 2011 with our 3-year old daughter.
We'd booked into the Royal Scot via Expedia, but were so disappointed with the
room (and service) there that we moved out the very next morning, (forfeiting
the cost), and into a one bedroom suite in the Oswego.
I'd called the front desk, and they were happy to show us a room before we
booked, and gave us a great rate. We jumped at it, and had no regrets. So much
space, a balcony, and great breakfasts and service. Thanks, Oswego: Without you
our stay in Victoria would have been a disaster. |
