We always return to the Grand Pacific whenever we visit Victoria. The location
is convenient, but the service provided by all staff is the main reason we
return. The decor is a little dated, but the rooms are spacious with lovely
views. Kids love the pool too.

I stayed at the Hotel Grand Pacific for one evening with my 7 year old daughter.
I booked on the hotel's website with no problems. We took the Victoria Clipper
up from Seattle and received a much better rate on the hotel booking separately
as opposed to booking one of the Clipper packages. The hotel is directly across
from the Clipper terminal and within walking distance to many tourist
destinations including The Empress, Parliament Buildings, IMAX and even Beacon
Hill Park, although the last is quite a walk. Service at the hotel was great, no
problems; we arrived at 11am in the morning and were able to get a room early.
We were directly across from the elevator on the ninth floor and I never heard
anything from the hallway/elevator. The beds could be a bit softer, they were
quite firm, but we slept fine. Beautiful view with walk-out balcony. Pool area
was great for kids and parents. My daughter loved it! One complaint- we were in
a tower on the other side of the hotel from the pool/fitness area, so we had to
walk through the main lobby in/with our pool gear because there is no access to
the fitness area from that side of the hotel. There is a changing area, however
with kids, sometimes it's just easier to head to pool ready to go, ie having to
walk through the main lobby at 7pm in either your bathing suit cover-up or a
robe. We did not eat at the hotel, so I cannot review their food or service in
that area. The hotel front desk staff were very nice and helpful. I realized I
had forgotten by cell phone charger and they were nice enough to go through the
lost and found and let me borrow one of the "left behinds" for the evening!
Overall great hotel and location, would stay there again.

Stayed here for one night with my boyfriend and his three kids (ages 8, 10 and
13). We wanted to check out the Royal BC Museum during spring break and this
hotel is just a block away. I made the reservation by phone and the
representative obviously knew that the available king suite on the10th floor
(top floor of the hotel) had some previous complaints. To her credit, she made
it clear that the suite was beside the elevator and that we may hear some noise,
but offered a discount so it was $150. Since it was just for one night, we
booked it.
Upon arriving, the hotel has good curb appeal and the valet in full costume
(with old fashioned hat and cape) was quaint. Check-in was speedy and the room
was in good condition, although the furniture and drapes were a bit dated. And
yes, you can hear the elevator but it's not intrusive and didn't keep any of us
up. Lovely view from the 10th floor - we saw the float planes landing! The hotel
staff was very prompt and cheerful in bringing up a rolling cot and extra
towels.
Of course, the most important thing to the kids was the pool - and it was great!
Conveniently located just downstairs, there is a beautiful large pool. A couple
of lanes are dedicated to swimming laps, but the rest is huge and there's no
'deep end' - the entire thing is just 3 1/2 feet deep so the 8-year-old was
ecstatic that her feet could always touch the ground! Cute little kiddie pool
and a good-sized hot tub, plus a lovely sauna and a very steamy steam room. All
in all, a very good facility. There's also gym equipment there, but we didn't
use it.
Globe and Mail newspaper delivered to the door in the morning - my favourite!
Check out was efficient. One small quibble: we asked the front desk clerk for
her favourite breakfast place and she gave us the directions to a place called
Cabin 12 - but when we all trooped there, turns out the restaurant had moved. I
know it seems like a small thing, but I would expect that a hotel service person
would hopefully have up-to-date info. Regardless, it was an enjoyable family
stay - great location, good value! Oh, and the hotel's proximity to Milestone's
restaurant was also a bonus...the kids loved it, and they even had gluten-free
pasta and cheese so everyone was a happy camper :)

If you like excellent service, courteous staff and cleanliness this is the place
to stay.
We stayed four nights this past weekend 03/07/2012 - 03/11/2012 for our wedding
anniversary
We had a suite on the fourth floor overlooking the harbor and the ferry. it was
spacious, comfortable and very clean. this is in part due to Dolores who is the
maid on this floor. She made sure that we had everything, the sheets were crisp
, white and pressed.
Chris in the Pacific Lounge is a great bar tender and waiter, after being in the
lounge just one time, the next day we came in he had remembered our names and
what we wanted on the sides with our order. Not too many hotels have staff that
really care about how you are treated it is evident this hotel does.
We will come back again, in the past thirty years we always stayed at the Laurel
Point. After this past weekend we will book again to stay at the Hotel Grand
Pacific mainly because it is the staff that went the extra mile to make your
stay comfortable. |
