Hotel Review of the Best Western Plus Carlton Plaza Victoria BC
6 May 2012
Service is SO important, and I'm thrilled to say this Best Western is tops when
it comes to cheerful greetings, paying attention to the guest, building a
rapport, and enthusing an overall positive ambience within the hotel. Whether it
was the bellman, chambermaid, front desk clerks, or managers, they did an
excellent job of making our family feel very welcome when we visited in April
for two nights.
Excellent location in the downtown core (close to shops and ocean) for very
reasonable rates.
Nice to have valet service included (1st time ever using such a luxury but here
it's standard, and included.)

We stayed here for one night on a mini vacation to Victoria. We booked through a
travel combo packaged offered through Clipper Vacations and enjoyed every minute
of it. Our tour bus dropped us off at the hotel about 20 min. before check-in
time, yet they were happy to get us checked in and our room was ready. The room
was great and just what we expected. Spacious with a king bed and everything was
comfy! The staff was always pleasant and helpful. Although minor, we enjoyed the
fact that the hotel was "green" in the sense that they didn't waste stocking
those little plastic shampoo and body wash bottles. Each shower had a dispenser
with really great smelling products! The best surprise was the fact that the
hotel offered guests free 2-hour bike rentals with helmets. Rather than spending
money on renting scooters, we enjoyed riding around the city and exploring
Beacon Hill Park during our second day. They even provided us complimentary
water bottles to use during our trip. The staff was also helpful in holding our
luggage after check-out so that we wouldn't have to deal with it throughout the
day. The hotel is centrally located in downtown Victoria and you can easily walk
to all the main attractions (except for Butchart Gardens outside of town - A
MUST SEE!!!) Easy access to Douglas St. and Government St., as well as Chinatown
and the inner harbor area. Great location. The only thing we'd change would be
the hotel not having a pool. We could have gone for a late night swim or hot tub
since the town of Victoria seems to shut down around 6pm! haha

On a recent trip to Victoria BC we needed a place to stay with our Cairn
Terrier. He was made very welcome at the Carlton Plaza. No problem walking him
through the main foyer or sitting inside waiting for our car. The entire hotel
was clean, with comfy beds, friendly staff and excellent service.
Despite the fact that there was some issue with their parking area and they had
to park off site, which involved a staff member going to get everyone's cars
when needed, vehicles were quickly brought to us in a timely manner. I am sure
this added to an already busy schedual for the staff, but they were always
friendly and courteous.
Thanks for the great weekend

This hotel is an excellent choice. Best Western never disappoints. The location
could not be any better - right in the middle of where everything is happening
and so close to the Convention centre. My room was good but the absolute best
feature is the instant hot water coming out of the shower head. This is such a
blessing. I know where I will be staying on my next trip to Victoria! |
