Review of the Queen Victoria Hotel

This hotel is in walking distance to many of Victoria's great sites - the inner harbour, Beacon Hill Park, downtown, the Parliament Buildings, BC Museum, the Convention Centre. There is also reasonable parking at $4/day. The room is sizeable, beds are fairly good. There is a pool, hot tub and sauna. One downside is that the room had a kitchen which was locked unless we paid an extra $20 per day. We really didn't need a kitchen, just the fridge which was on the other side of the locked door.
There is free wi-fi which is high speed.
This is a good place to stay.

Stayed at the Queen Victoria during a last minute visit to Victoria. Hotel was comfortable, quiet and clean. Free wi-fi was an added bonus.
We left our car at the hotel most of the time and walked around to the area. It was a 20 minute walk to the local restaurants and Chinatown, but directly across from the BC Royal Museum. Major plus if you had a large family to organize. I believe the Grey Hound is also just up the block.
I would stay there again.

We REALLY enjoyed our stay at the Queen Victoria Hotel. We brought our parents over at Christmas time to see the lights at Butchart Gardens. We didn't have our car so this hotel was perfectly located, close to shopping, and the van for the garden picked us up right in front of the hotel. Clean and comfy rooms with free wifi. The rooms are a nice size too. I will be returning to Victoria next month and will be staying again at the Queen Victoria, it is a lovely spot!

This hotel was overall a good mid range option for downtown Victoria. The location is outstanding as it is right next to the BC Museum and steps from the inner harbour (some rooms have limited views of the harbour) and adjacent to Beacon Hill Park. Parking is included with most room rates which adds value as parking in downtown can be expensive, however there are limited spaces and figuring out the overflow is a bit of hassle. The restaurant (Samuels) is quite good, The fitness/ indoor/ pool facility is good. (It might not be suitable for young children who cannot swim as there is no shallow area) Service overall was pretty good, however we did get some very inconvenient information from the first reservation person we spoke to. We stayed in a junior suite which was comfortable and well appointed. Since it was a corner room it was bright with many windows, however due to the strong wind that night it was very noisy. Overall we enjoyed our stay and certainly enjoyed downtown Victoria.

I think we will probably stay here again. We need to go to Victoria every 8 weeks, so we've stayed in a few places. It worked great for what we needed. We always visit the Royal BC Museum... Can't get closer than across the street. Just a block from Beacon Hill Park so the family can go for a wander. It has useful balconies. Our kids won't go to sleep if we're in the room.
Breakfast was average, we might hold off next time, check out a little bit earlier and hit John's Place on the way to our Appt at the Hospital.
