Review of the Royal Scot Suite Hotel Victoria

My sister and I stayed here for four nights and we were
very happy with our experience. The hotel location is
excellent - easy walking distance to the Inner Harbour
and Beacon Hill Park. The price was very competitive.
Like most Victoria hotels they charge for parking.
We had separate rooms and I took a studio suite so that
we would have a kitchen and a table and chairs. The
kitchen was well equipped with a full fridge, stove,
microwave, dishes and utensils. There is a Thrifty Foods
nearby to stock up on groceries. The hotel has a gift
shop where you can buy items for quick dinners or
snacks. Free newspapers, apples at the front desk and
umbrellas, packets of cookies and salt and pepper in the
room reflect the little things that add up to make a
stay really comfortable.
The rooms are large and well appointed. The furnishings
are that little bit better than a budget hotel and the
rates reflect that.
We tried out the hotel restaurant which was fine but no
better. Given the abundance of nearby restaurants, I
would try elsewhere first.
The really impressive service was the free shuttle bus
which was available on demand to take guests to
locations within a 10 block radius of the hotel. It was
not possible to book it in advance but we experienced
very little wait. Perfect for when the weather is bad.
The staff were very friendly and efficient.
The room keys were demagnetized very easily and we had
to have them reset a couple of times.
Would recommend this hotel to just about anyone.

This must be our 8th or 9th visit over the years. It
still has the character and charm of a small "owner
managed" inn, despite it's size. Spotlessly clean,
excellent staff, great little cafe style restaurant,
perfect for a couple of senior lovebirds like us.

We hadn't booked accommodation in Victoria and were
referred by the tourist bureau to the Royal Scot as a
place that was reasonably priced and centrally located.
The room we asked for was being renovated so we were
asked if we would mind changing to a suite. Wow, it was
beautifully appointed - quite luxurious - but we only
stay at hotels on holidays to shower and sleep. Of
course there was no extra cost for this upgrade. We told
the young lady on reception of our dilema concerning ice
hockey tickets we thought we had in Vancouver. She
immediately went on the internet and booked tickets for
us in Victoria for an ice hockey game that night. The
manager of the hotel was at the desk at the time and he
said the hotel had a free shuttle bus service around the
city centre. He said they wouldn't worry about a few
extra blocks outside the city centre. Consequently we
were delivered to the match and picked up free of
charge. This hotel is a great place to stay and have
recommended it to others.

We stay here as a family. The location was good as far
as getting to points of interest but our room was ground
floor, no A/C, opened a window to get fresh air and the
screens fell out and bugs got in. The restaurant was
over priced , so we went across the street to the Days
Inn for meals . If we went to Victoria again , that's
where we would stay. The staff was very good and the
rooms were very well cleaned but not my kind of
accommodation
