Review of the Sandman Hotel Victoria

This hotel is used to be good 7-8 yrs ago but it's gone to the "bad hotel" category in my opinion. Towels are worn out, decors outdated, pillows and bedding were disgusting. Here is the worse part... I left my lap top charger in the room, realized this after leaving town. Phoned 4 times. Twice to their house keeping, once to their office manager and once to their central reservation center. Nobody bothered to call back. This shows me serious lack of customer service in their culture. Better choices are out there folks.

we got into Victoria late and were looking for pretty much any place that had vacancies for the night. my husband grabbed us a room here and it was easily the worst place we had encountered on our trip. the rooms were freakishly small, air was stale, and no way to open a window. the first room we were given literally smelled like sewage. with no way to open a window, it was unacceptable. they gave us another room after I complained which also smelled like sewage, but less so. the carpet was dirty in the room and my pillow stunk of the previous guest's sweat. the beds were very uncomfortable, so I tried sleeping on the love seat. i don't know what the deal was with it, but I was itching all over when I got up. sleep was terrible due to the noise of a very loud ice machine that woke me in 20-30 minute cycles out in the hall. if the family had not been so exhausted, i would have turned around and found another place despite it being 11pm. i am surprised this place gets away with charging people $160 per night. Do not stay here!

The sandman is not within walking distance of the Inner Harbour but there are plenty of places to park on the inner harbour. The parking at the hotel was a challenge. they have a bar on sight and the customers take up the hotel parking in the evening. they heed to have designated parking for hotel guests only. The customers using the bar were quite rude. The lobby staff was nice and helpful. I would definitely stay there again. The room was nice. The carpet needed to be cleaned or updated but in all was very nice and clean.

My wife and I stayed here with our three children (6, 3, 3) during August. First of all it was tough to find a hotel that would take 5 people to room, to our surprise. But the Sandman had no problem with us. The room was clean and had three beds (one was a hide-a-bed), which we needed. We had no outside noise from traffic, but could here the room beside us, which was from a noisy neighbor, not the fault of the hotel. The staff was very friendly, and the price was very nice for a suite. We would stay here again, no question about it.

We have stayed for a night at Sandman in Victoria:

pros: good value for money (compared with other hotels especially this time of period), free parking, the room was spacious and clean, the staff was friendly to help you,

cons: the hotel is not located in the waterfront you need at least 30min walk to reach the city center, from my point of you you need a transportation mainly for the late hours..itīs more safe (i would consider the area as a dodgy...the way to downtown on foot)....all the nice spots are downtown around the hotel are a few options...breakfast was not included in the price..
In overall itīs was a good hotel...
