Hotel Review Delta Ocean Pointe Resort Victoria
16 March 2012
Stayed on business March 2012.
Top quality staff in all areas - reception, conference
support, restaurant and bar - people who genuinely seem
to take a pride in service and the hotel.
Newly refurbished rooms top quality and on a par with
any competitor in the same price range.
Convenient for city centre and the views over the
harbour are superb.
Highly recommended.

When we booked, we were not aware of the renovations
going on. Upon arrival, we were also disappointed to
find that the Signature Lounge was closed. Staying here
a couple of times a year and always tremendously pleased
in the past, we half expected this to be our first bad
experience. But, the consistently excellent service
alone quickly convinced us that we were "home". We were
upgraded to one of the newly renovated rooms, but it had
scaffolding by the window and a bit of a chemical smell
that new places tend to have. So, we chose to move back
to the standard "old" room. By comparison, this suddenly
appeared quite dated (though still very comfortable, and
with the old bath products we like). The new rooms are
modern and sleek, with a huge desk/work area, what looks
like improved lighting, and a fabulous new bathroom
(large walk in shower). Lots of great changes, though
"at our age" it'll take a bit longer to get used to :)
The staff were as professional, friendly and welcoming
as always and dealt with the facelift going on around
them as well as anyone could hope for.

We love the Delta chain of hotels, and this one, even
while undergoing a renovation, did not disappoint.
The Delta is located on the Harbour, across from the
Empress Hotel and the BC Legislature. Picture perfect.
So easy to get to, so close to everything.
Our room was not refurbished to the 2012 promotion
posters' standards, but it was still very nicely
furnished with a king-sized bed and a seating area with
good reading lights, as well as a large desk and good
TV. The bathroom was clearly not updated, there was
still the pink tile tub-surround, but that was not a
problem (we weren't there to critique the bathroom, I'm
just noting it here, lol). Great bath products, as
usual, and the housekeeping department is fantastic. We
asked for the room to be serviced during a certain
time-frame (as per the card you hang on the door), and
each day it was done at the earlier end of the times,
and not at the end of it.
The front desk staff were absolutely charming and
answered all of our questions about good restaurants in
the area, things to do out and about. Yes, they are
asked those same questions on a quarter-hour basis, but
not once were we made to feel like this was the 100th
time they'd had to answer that day. Very professional.
Very friendly.

The shuttle service to downtown restaurants is very
handy. Don't bother with taxis for dining out downtown,
the shuttle will drop you off and pick you up whenever
you like, right at your restaurant. Couldn't be easier.
They don't charge for the service, but gratuities were
appreciated.
The restaurant in the hotel is pricey (sorry, but it
is), but if you are there for a leisurely breakfast, you
might want to give the French toast a try. It has a
Bananas Foster sauce that is Out Of This World. So
delicious!
We loved the hotel....and can't wait for an excuse to go
back.
