Reviews of the Gatsby Mansion Inn Victoria

We arrived at the Gatsby at 1 pm on JULY 6
We were told that we could not check in until 3 as the rooms weren't done
We left and returned at 2;45 and asked if the rooms were done yet
She immediately said NO and was very rude
I asked her what is required to cancel my reservation
she looked at my reservation, saw it was for two days and very cynical
said 48 hours
We took the room but were very disappointed,
the room was The Baker, but please note the picture exploits the actual room
we found it extremely plain.
When we awoke in the morning to take a bath we found a bug crawling around, now
I know it was only a bug but when you pay a high price you want to see none
we called the front desk and it was answered by the Huntingdon Hotel and Suites
I expressed our grief and was immediately offered a room
Lexie, the girl who took our case was extremely professional
Kudos to Lexie
The only good thing about the Gatsby in our eyes, thatw as awesome is we
received a 31.63 gift card towards both mornings for breakfast
I would highly Recommend the Huntingdon Hotel

We stayed at this delightful, beautiful place and got excellent service and
comfortable rooms. Wonderful old stained glass and polished wood fixtures
everywhere. A big shout-out to Stan, Jenn, David, and Steven for their excellent
service and attention to details. for example, one of our group had a sore ankle
and the staff made sure she had her ice packs ready at all times. Delicious food
and perfect location. yes, I will be back.

We had a great stay here. The hotel was quiet and our room was clean with a
mixture of antique furniture and some other, more dated items. The location of
the hotel is very convenient for exploring downtown Victoria, as it's only a
block or 2 from the Parliament buildings and the Empress hotel. Our room, number
9, featured a view of the inner harbour. The ceiling in the bedroom was slanted
over the bed as it's an attic room.
The only negatives were that the carpet in our room needed cleaning, and the
bathtub was very slow to drain.

The best thing about the Gatsby Mansion is its location, a two-minute walk from
the ferry dock. It is five minutes' walk from the center of town and sits right
across from the harbor with full frontal views.
The rooms are good B&B quality, not sumptuous but much nicer and far more unique
than the average hotel for which you pay about the same price. Breakfasts come
with it and are good, though the coffee was terrible.
The staff was friendly and attentive without exception--in many ways more
present than in most B&B's. Overall, it made a fine place to spend several days
in Victoria in the vicinity of a host of great restaurants--and we never needed
a car.

On our recent trip to Victoria we stayed at the Gatsby. The employees were so
nice. honestly I think they were the best part. So friendly and helpful! We
could see the city and the Empress all lit up from the amazing view, which was
also pretty awesome. The entire time we were there I never heard a peep from
anyone else, and I believe the place was full at least 2 of the nights.
There was one day where I was in a cranky mood because of a horrible dining
experience, and the positive and friendly Gatsby staff made me smile on my way
in, and improved my entire day.
The king mattress was a bit firm, but that is how I like to sleep. My husband
probably would have preferred a squishier mattress.
The room was basic but beautiful, with a little coffee maker and tv. Also good
wifi, we would have streamed hulu movies if they worked in Canada.
Also we accidentally took the key, and we are sending it back. they didn't
charge us and were super nice about it!
