I loved this hotel because it was older which means the rooms are bigger. Our room for my son & I was gigantic, very comfortable & the view was great. The furnishings needed some updating but they were not that bad. The staff was so very helpful, they went out of their way to fulfill all of our requests. The room was very clean & the beds comfortable. I've traveled all over Europe & Asia & have stayed in much worse. I will stay here whenever I'm in Victoria.

We recently stayed December 29 - Jan 1 in a two bedroom suite with our three children. The furnishing were very dated and cheap, but could have looked past that except the beds were uncomfortable and small. For some reason I thought the second bedroom had two beds, which in my experience was typical for a two bedroom suite. The lone double bed was a bit tight for my daughters and my son made do with the pull out sofa. This was my oversight, but the discomfort of the beds for all caused us to check out a day early and head home. The decor on their website certainly looked much more up to date than what we experienced. The living room area was spacious, which was nice. It's a good location, quick walk from the ferry, and close to the inner harbour a bit of a walk to get to restaurants and shopping, but not bad. If you had small children it would be more challenging, unless your family is used to walking everywhere. The front desk was accommodating but not friendly. The gym was huge and probably the nicest feature, but we weren't really there to work out. The pool and spa were okay, again dated, but not bad. Overall the hotel needs a lot of updating. If you are used to staying in really budget hotels, this isn't bad. If you want something a step up from your college days, I would look elsewhere.

I stayed at the hotel December 27, and 28th - booked a two bedroom suite for my family so we could attend my son's hockey tournament. Overall it was okay - clean and roomy - but the furnishings really need updating and the bed in my room was very old and lumpy. i was also unhappy with the front desk staff = when I called about problems with my internet I was rudely told that it had nothing to do with the hotel and was given a number to call. There was no need for the rudeness, I was polite and my request was reasonable. I was also appalled at one desk staff who was chewing a wad a gum so large it could barely fit in her mouth and I could barely understand her. My teens have better manners than either of these people.

On the positive side - the restaurant food was very good and very well priced -but understaffed so we ended up leaving one of the nights before we got our desert - we had waited 20 minutes and just gave up.

There are other hotels in the area that I've stayed in that are the same price and more updated and with better mannered front desk staff - I might eat there again, but won't likely stay there again.

We are 5 people in a 2 bed suit. The heaters were broken so we had no heat, what they gave us was 1 space heater. Its winter you need heat. The windows are from when hotel was built. There is like no lighting. a lot of the plug ins didn't work. The pillow smelt like someone's head was on it. The beds were very very uncomfy. could feel the springs. they never stocked up towels, teas, etc.. Talked to the manager and said that we get complimentary breaky, so we went ate. Next day we got the bill and there was $73 charge. I will NOT recommend this hotel to ANYONE. We came on a hockey tourney and we had others that said they had water leaks and mould all thru the room. Only best thing is location, you can see parliament building. Looks best at night with the Christmas lights. And its walking distance to down town.

I stayed there last month and this is the second time there. The first time I had issues with screaming babies and was upgraded to another floor in a huge room. That wasn't so bad.

This trip, the heater in the room didn't work and the company meal vouchers that were pre-paid were not ready when I checked in. After checking again, they said they still were not ready and I ate regardless charging it to the room. The last day they apologized for this and removed the charge only to charge it back a week later! I'm not sure what sort of scam this is outfit is running but the final invoice does not reflect these charges and they applied them to my credit card a week later.
I will never visit this hotel again, its dishonest to agree to charge then change your mind after leaving town.
