The hotel like I said had wonderful staff always there to help if there were any questions or concerns. It really felt like they cared about you. The cleaning staff were wonderful and friendly. The room had a nice view even though the hotel is surrounded by a few buildings. The room was spacious enough although we would next time request a little bigger room which has a kitchenette as we were a party of 2 adults and 2 children and one infant. We had a few minor glitches like a dirty stove and crib request forgotten. When they found out they were there is minutes cleaning the stove and getting our crib. I thought that was great service. We also did not have to pay for parking on off season which was a big savings for us. The only thing is they don't have a pool on site. When you have young children it is difficult walking or driving just for an hour to the YMCA OR YWCA which you get passes for. Its inconvenient, so we never did go swimming which the kids were disappointed about. The other thing that didn't work all that well was there internet service it was difficult for my husband to get through from the room all the time a little annoying.

The B.W. Carlton Plaza more than met our expectations. We had a very comfortable room and the staff was outstanding. The location was convenient to transportation shopping and restaurants. We arrived via the Clipper ship from Seattle and It is a bit of a hike from the docks to the hotel, so decided to take a cab. I would recommend that anyone doing that take a Yellow Cab - the cab we took smelled like someone had urinated in it. The hotel staff were always very friendly and helpful. They always greeted us with a friendly smile and were always willing to offer suggestions for dining or anything we wanted. Our room was more than adequate, and mostly quiet, even though we were next to the elevator. The hotel security was one of the best we have seen. They have room safes, and a room key is needed to access the elevators . The only glitch we met with was with one of the desk clerks, a young woman, who insisted we owed a balance even though I had paid in advance for the whole stay. Had she just asked for us to spell our name or repeat our room number, instead of arguing, we could have avoided that unpleasantness.

we were very impressed with the overall location and lay out of the hotel. Staff were very friendly and well informed. They could direct you to the most amazing out of the way places to eat that were reasonably priced and served u excellent cuisine. We had 2 teenage boys with us and they liked the movie selection and the close proximity to the harbor front and town location. The hotel has available cycles for use free of charge. The fitness center had a variety of machines available and no waiting at anytime.

My wife and I visited Victoria for 1.5 weeks and enjoyed the city and stay at the Carlton Plaza immensely. The hotel's location was close to the harbour and many downtown sites. Our room, a studio suite, was spacious and allowed us to relax on our down time. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

I only stayed at this hotel for two nights in mid week, but enjoyed it very much! The location is right downtown, but I felt very secure at night. It is perfect for someone who doesn't have a car.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. My room was discounted because of the proximity of the nightclub. It didn't bother me at all, but I was staying mid-week, it might be different on a week-end. Room was very clean, flat panel tv was great (clear picture which I can't say for some high end hotels I have stayed at).
Overall, great value for money. I would stay there again no problem!

We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Best Western Carlton Plaza in beautiful downtown Victoria, BC. I was traveling with my mother and it was very important to me that she had a comfortable travel experience. And did we ever! Our room was superb - the kitchen suite enabled us to enjoy a relaxing morning and to visit with family at our convenience. Our beds were extremely comfortable and we awoke refreshed each morning. Every member of the staff was friendly, helpful and went out of their way to ensure that we were happy and well looked after. We look forward to a return trip and the Best Western Carlton Plaza will be our hotel of choice whenever in Victoria.

My husband, mother, cat and I have stayed at the Carlton Best Western a few times before and have always found them to be great. This trip was no different. I especially loved the one bedroom suite that we were in. It was the perfect size for our group. I also loved the really comfortable beds and duvets. The staff were always warm, welcoming, efficient and ready to accommodate special needs to make our stay a happy one. It is very handy to the waterfront and all the wonderful little shops downtown. Valet parking in a secure gated parking lot is very convenient and the service is free.

I had the opportunity to visit my uncle who is staying downtown in another high end hotel. But found that the bachelor suites are so much nicer and larger at the Carlton and the rates are lower especially for long term stays.

There can be noise on the streets (we were on the second floor this last time) but it didn't stop us from sleeping or disturb our stay. The housekeeping staff were very good with our pet cat as well as efficient for our needs.

I stayed at Best Western Carlton Plaza for 3 nights. It was amazingly perfect!!
They provide complementary bottles of water, umbrellas in the room, it was surprising fabulous service from the hotel.

Also, front desk staff was so friendly and helpful all the time, and the restaurant they recommended was awesome!!

In addition, they provide Valet Parking, it was sooooo helpful and handy for me because I didn't need to walk to the parkade in the rain. They brought my car very quickly, I really appreciated them.
Bell men were very polite and helpful.

Surprisingly, they seemed to accept international students from Korea (bell) and Japan (front desk) as an international intern. They were very polite and always tried to help me. I was so impressed by their work.

I highly recommend Best Western Carlton Plaza!!

I recently stayed at the Best Western Carlton Plaza. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay, the staff was very helpful. Facilities were above-average for this type/price-range of hotel, in my experience.
It has a very convenient location, also.

The one negative aspect was the noise from the Prism nightclub (ground floor) on Saturday night, but it wasn't too bad. I think the many positives out-trump this aspect

I would stay here again

We were disappointed. The location seems to be a problem
at night as it is just blocks away from a Homeless Shelter so
the night we stayed there we were approached by people on the street and saw many people being arrested by the police just around the block from the hotel and on several other blocks around the hotel.
(Maybe it's because it is so close to city hall). The hotel itself was nice inside, The room was rather small with small windows.
but there was no parking nearby. Valets parked your car so you'd have to ask for your car when you needed it. It is within walking distance to most places in Victoria that you'd want to see, but
I think we'd pay the extra to stay at the Harbour Inn Best Western
next time. The room we stayed in at the Carlton Plaza was right above a night club and had a view of the city but you could
hear everything going on below until 3 am in the morning. I think there are only 3 rooms that might be affected by this, but it didn't help our opinion of the hotel. The snack machines were completely empty so we went out looking for something to eat, walking so we didn't have to get our car. (It wasn't late but about 8:00. It seems to not be a good area after dark. We didn't want to stay in our hotel all night but after the experience on the street we went back anyway stayed there. I'm not sure what the hotel could do to make things better, but if you do go don't take room 522,23 24 etc.

We went there to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary by ourselves and had never been to Victoria before. So it was disappointing to us that we couldn't go out at night and see the city because of the location of the hotel and happenings around it. The city of Victoria is worth the visit, just had a bad
experience with the hotel. If we do go back to Victoria it'll be with our young kids so then again we wouldn't choose this hotel as we'd not want to go out after dark at this location with our kids.
The front desk people were very nice and helpful, but there's not much they could do about the surroundings. We did tell them about the room experience. We were hoping they would have the option of a continental breakfast but this one does not. It does have a restaurant on site, but it can get pricey.

This is a comfortable hotel, reasonably priced and centrally located in downtown Victoria. Valet parking is inexpensive and you can leave your car and walk to the harbour, many venues and fine restaurants.
